Application

How do I determine if I am eligible for the Program?

If you are 15 to 18 years old during the program.

What level of English is required to participate in the program?

The program is delivered in English. The applicant should have the potential to contribute to the program in English, even if his or her English capabilities are slightly limited compared to other participants. A conversational level of English is fine.

Is the Application very time-consuming?

No, it is a very straightforward application. It does require a 2-3 minute video that you will need to submit as part of your application.

Is there an application fee?

Yes, there is USD 50 application fee.

Selection Process

Is there a limited number of slots available?

Yes, there is a limited number of participants admitted. So, we recommend that once acceptance communications are received the payment process is completed as soon as possible. Payment is the only guarantee of participation and it is what will be determining first come first serve.

Is there a limit to the number of students who are accepted from a specific nationality or grade?

There is no limit for the number of students accepted from a specific nationality or grade. The program will accept students based on their individual qualities, as well as the overall diversity of the student body. We will try to achieve a balance cohort.

Are there interviews?

No. There are no interviews but you will submit a 2-3 minute video introducing yourself and explaining your interest and contribution to the Program. Make the most out of it!

Will there be a waitlist?

Yes. Strong applications might be added to the waitlist. This means that you will have the chance to attend Program if a place opens up. Payment will not be required until a place opens up.

Tuition, Payment and Cancellation

What is included in the Tuition?

Tuition covers Room & Board, Day Trip, and Content Activities.

How do I pay Tuition?

A payment link will be provided upon acceptance. If you are based in the US, you will find certain financing options with your payment. Payments can be made with a credit card.

Is Tuition refundable?

No, tuition is not refundable. We suggest you use insurance to protect the chance of not being able to participate. On a case-by-case basis, the Program may issue total of partial credit for future year participation.

Can the Program be canceled?

Patagonia Education Partners LLC has the sole discretion to cancel the Program in case of a significant health threat, natural disaster, or unforeseen event that makes it unsafe to hold the Program. Should Patagonia Education Partners LLC decide to cancel the Program, tuition will be refunded.

Financial Assistance

Is there any financial aid available?

Yes! Patagonia Bright Futures Foundation Inc, a registered 501(c)(3) public charity, will be offering financial assistance at their own discretion and based on proven need. Admitted candidates will be able to apply for Financial Aid, after they have completed the Enrollment Form. Financial Aid Application will require Parent/Guardian to fill in a Form and Submit supporting documentation. Partial Financial Aid is decided on a rolling basis. Full Financial Aid is decided towards the end of May. The Foundation gives Financial Aid candidates the option to raise funds through its structure, much like a crowdfunding GoFundMe campaign.

Giving-Donating

Can I donate to allow more kids to attend the Program?

Can I deduct my donation from my tax return?

Yes! If you are a US taxpayer, you will receive the appropriate documentation to deduct your one-time or recurring donation.

Getting there

Where is the Program host?

The Program is hosted at different United World Colleges campuses. Please check available Sessions and Location under Program Details or in the Application.

How do participants get to and from the Program?

Transportation to and from the Program is not included in the program. Therefore, we are unable to assist with international travel arrangements unless we have explicitly informed you that we will handle the arrangements. We will provide pre-determined pickup and drop-off times from near transportation hubs. Details will be provided a couple of weeks before the start of your session, once we have everybody’s travel itineraries. Special requests can be organized at an extra cost. Please contact us to inquire about it. 

When do I have to plan to arrive and depart?

You should arrive the day before the Program starts and you should plan to leave on the last day of the Program. The closing ceremony takes place the evening before.

Completion and Graduation

Do I get a Certificate of Completion?

Yes! Participants that complete and actively participate in all classes and activities of the Program, will receive a Certificate of Completion, usable in any college application or any other course to apply in the future. Obtaining our Certificate of Completion will also guarantee preference in future Programs we might roll out.

Do I get any credit at my current school for participating?

Probably, if your school requires a certain number of social service, our Certificate of Completion will certify 30 hours of social service during our Program. It will be up to your school to accept such credit, but we can provide your school with the basis of our social service to account for those hours.
